Danielle Marie Holland

The Body Still Remembers (Hinton Publishing, 2026) is Danielle’s debut memoir-in-essays.

From Las Vegas desert heat to Pacific Northwest forests, this braided work confronts the silences that shape us—family secrets, institutional betrayals, ecological devastation. With clarity and courage, Holland asks: What does accountability look like? How do we repair harm without repeating it?

This is memoir as exorcism, criticism as survival, and a map for anyone ready to do the hard work of repair.

More about Danielle

I live in Dxʷdəwʔabš (Duwamish) territory—Seattle, WA—with my partner and incredible child. Grounded by the waters and forests of this place, my work moves at the intersections of storytelling, justice, and repair.

A writer, activist, and anti-imperialist, I use narrative to expose how systems of power shape our bodies, families, and ecologies. I am a 2024 Arthur & Helen Whiteley Distinguished Fellow and a regular contributor to Parents Magazine, with additional work in Rewire News Group, DAME, Insider, and beyond.

Before turning to writing full-time, I spent years in the performing arts—directing, producing, and acting—where I built community and created political impact through story. Today, whether in essays, collaborations, or communications strategy, I remain committed to dismantling the narratives that uphold domination and to imagining collective paths toward liberation.
